Billing, Credits & Usage Limits

Last updated: November 4, 2026

Current plans and prices are on the pricing page at tavily.com/pricing, and Enterprise pricing is set in your Order Form. The free Researcher plan includes 1,000 credits per month, needs no credit card, and won’t charge you unless you turn on pay-as-you-go. Credit usage per request, rate limits (including how to handle HTTP 429 responses), and per-request usage tracking are covered in the documentation at docs.tavily.com and in your dashboard. Fees are non-refundable, and existing customers get advance notice of any self-serve price change.

What does it cost? Which plan should I choose, what does Enterprise cost, are there minimum top-ups, and do credits expire?

  • Current plans and prices are on our pricing page at tavily.com/pricing. Enterprise pricing is set in your Order Form; contact our sales team for a quote. Fees are non-refundable, and we give existing customers advance notice of any self-serve price change.

Does the free plan hard-stop when credits run out, with no charges? Is a card required, and what are the keyless limits?

  • Yes. The free Researcher plan doesn't require a credit card, and you will not be charged unless you turn on pay-as-you-go.

Are failed, errored or timed-out requests charged, and how can I check per-request usage (dashboard or API)?

  • Tavily's credits documentation at docs.tavily.com explains how requests are billed, and you can check per-request usage in your dashboard. If you think you were charged for a failed request, contact support@tavily.com.

What rate limits apply, and how should I handle HTTP 429 responses?

  • Rate limits for your plan are listed in Tavily's API documentation at docs.tavily.com. If you receive an HTTP 429 response, wait briefly and retry.

What is the free-plan credit allowance, and how many credits does a request use?

  • The free plan includes 1,000 credits per month. Credit usage per request is listed in our credits documentation at docs.tavily.com; for example, a basic search uses 1 credit and an advanced search uses 2.

Can I set a usage limit on an API key, and what is the lowest limit?
