Understanding Pay-As-You-Go and Billing Resets
Last updated: February 3, 2026
When using Tavily API, it’s important to understand how your usage and billing are structured—especially if you're on a Pay-As-You-Go plan or a monthly subscription. This guide explains how credit resets and billing dates work so you can manage your usage effectively.
🔁 When Do Pay-As-You-Go Credits Reset?
For Pay-As-You-Go users, credits reset on the first day of every calendar month.
This means that no matter when you start using Pay-As-You-Go, your usage counter will reset to zero on the 1st of the month.
💳 When Is My Billing Date?
Your billing date depends on when you first subscribed to a monthly plan.
For example, if you subscribed on the 10th, your billing cycle will recur on the 10th of each month.
This is separate from the credit reset schedule for Pay-As-You-Go, which is always on the 1st.
🔎 Summary
Plan Type | Credits Reset Date | Billing Date |
Pay-As-You-Go | 1st of each calendar month | 1st of each calendar month / Charged automatically for every $40 of usage |
Monthly Plan | 1st of each calendar month | Based on your sign-up date |
